THE AYURVEDA AVENUE
In seeking wellness practices, I am grateful for the palate of guides who have their base in Singapore. One of the forms I look to in seeking wellness is through Ayurveda. I relate to it from an organic level because its healing methods are based on food and ingredients I grew up with, so it was not difficult to relate to.
At the root of Ayurveda is the philosophy that the body and soul is nourished by food. Ayurveda helps to maintain a state of balance - balance for the prevention of illness or dis-ease, and the promotion of health. This science recognises the individuality of a person’s bodily constitution through its connection with the 5 universal elements - Space, Air / Ether, Fire, Water and Earth. Depending on the association and connection to these 5 universal elements, a body can be described as being Vata, Pitta or Kapha, signifying the dominant elements which wire-up the body.
I am wired as Pitta. When out of balance, other elements come into play and disturb my body's original constitution.
